The mechanism in motion

Dance of Horizons examines how human presence alters the experience of time. Housed within a minimal, hourglass structure, a rotating sun and moon mechanism responds to viewer proximity: when a viewer is present, the movement slows; when the viewer leaves, it accelerates. The sensors, motors, and control systems remain concealed. The work reads first as sculpture, then as interaction. Presence becomes an active force: the viewer does not simply observe the system; their body changes its rhythm.

Developed through the Reality Art and Tech Collaborative Program (Dubai Culture, 2024 to 2025).
